About Inigo

I’m Iggy, a recent Physics and Chemistry graduate from Durham University with over three years of private tutoring experience.

I teach GCSE Physics, Chemistry and Maths, plus A-Level Maths. I really enjoy helping students go from “this makes no sense” to “oh, that’s actually quite simple”. My focus is on breaking things down clearly, building confidence, and practising the kind of questions that actually come up in exams.

I’m organised, patient, and easy to talk to. I know science and maths can feel intimidating, so I try to keep lessons calm, structured and even a bit fun where possible. Whether you’re aiming to boost a grade or push for top marks, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward step by step.

My approach to tutoring

I take a structured, exam-focused approach built around clarity, confidence and measurable progress. My methodology combines three core principles:

Diagnostic first, teaching second
I begin by identifying gaps in understanding through targeted questions and short baseline assessments. This ensures we focus on the highest impact areas rather than reteaching content unnecessarily.

Conceptual understanding before memorisation
Especially in physics and maths, I prioritise building intuition. I break complex topics into first principles, use worked examples, and ensure students can explain concepts back to me in their own words. This prevents superficial learning and improves retention.

Active practice and exam technique
Sessions include guided problem solving, timed exam-style questions, and structured feedback. I teach students how to approach mark schemes strategically, avoid common errors, and maximise method marks. Every lesson ends with clear targets and optional extension work.

Typical lesson structure and length

Lessons are typically 1 hour, though I also offer 90-minute sessions for A-Level students or exam preparation.
Availability: 1 hour or longer sessions after 5pm.
Location: West London (in-person available locally, or online).

Qualifications and experience

I achieved all A*s at GCSE and A*,A*,A*,A* in Phys, Chem, Maths, Further Maths at A-Level.

I have over three years of private tutoring experience throughout university, working with GCSE and A-Level students. I have now graduated and continue tutoring to supplement my income.

My background is in a quantitative degree, with strong performance in mathematics and science modules. I am comfortable teaching:

• Further Maths - GCSE
• Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics – GCSE and A-Level

Across my tutoring experience, I have worked with students preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, resits, and those aiming for grade improvement from 5–6 up to 8–9 (or A/A* at A-Level).

Who my lessons are for

• GCSE students (Years 9–11) in physics, chemistry, or maths
• A-Level students in mathematics
• Students who want structured exam preparation
• Students lacking confidence in quantitative subjects
• High-achieving students aiming for top grades

I tailor lessons to the student’s ability and goals, whether that is securing a pass, improving predicted grades, or pushing towards top marks.
