About Shivani

Hi, I’m Shivani! As a bit of background, I’m a first-class Physics graduate from the University of Bath. I achieved all A* grades in my A-Levels (Maths, Further Maths and Physics) and 8s and 9s across my GCSEs. After graduating, I worked as an actuarial analyst within pensions, but I’ve since decided to focus on supporting students through these really important stages of their education.

These qualifications have genuinely opened doors for me and built a strong foundation for my career, which is why I’m so passionate about helping others achieve the same.

When I first started secondary school, I wasn’t an A/A* student - I had to learn how to properly understand subjects and, just as importantly, how to pass exams. Over time, I developed the skills, techniques and mindset needed to succeed, and I strongly believe these are things that anyone can learn.

I’m very friendly, patient and approachable, and I always encourage students to ask questions - there truly is no such thing as a silly question. A big part of doing well in Maths and Physics is building confidence, and that’s something I focus on just as much as the content itself.

I understand that these subjects don’t always come easily at first, which is why I find it so rewarding to help students go from feeling stuck to feeling confident and capable. I also recognise the pressure that comes with exams, so I aim to support students not just academically, but in feeling prepared, calm and self-assured.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy staying active, travelling, learning Spanish, singing and playing golf. I love trying new things and bringing that same energy and positivity into my teaching.

About the lesson

I take a ground-up and highly personalised approach to teaching, as I believe every student learns differently. Once you truly understand the basics, everything else becomes much easier to apply, so I focus on breaking topics down into simple, clear steps and building your understanding from there in a way that works for you.

At the same time, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique. Success in Maths and Physics isn’t just about knowing the theory - it’s about understanding how to apply it to gain marks. In our lessons, we’ll learn the content and then directly apply it to exam-style questions, so you become confident in both your understanding and your exam performance.

All lessons are tailored to your individual needs, pace and goals. I also personalise teaching based on your exam board (such as AQA, Edexcel or OCR), so we focus on exactly what is expected and how to maximise marks in your specific papers.

Lessons are interactive, supportive and structured. I aim to create a relaxed environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and learning at your own pace.

I hold a first-class degree in Physics from the University of Bath, with A* grades in A-Level Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics, and grade 9s in GCSE Maths and Physics. I teach students at GCSE and A-Level, as well as those preparing ahead of GCSE who want to build a strong foundation early on. I’m happy to support a range of abilities - whether you’re looking to build confidence, catch up, or aim for top grades.
