About Kosntantinos

I'm Konstantinos, though most people call me Kon.I grew up in Greece for the first part of my childhood. I'm 22, based in Chichester, and I finished my Mechanical Engineering degree at Sussex this summer with a First.

I ended up doing a lot of teaching at university without really planning to. I led group projects and spent a fair amount of time going over material with classmates who'd got lost somewhere and were too embarrassed to say so in a lecture. That's the part I came to enjoy most. Nobody ever asks for help at the point they first stop understanding, they ask about three weeks later, and by then they've usually decided they're just bad at the subject. They almost never are. Something small went past them and everything after it stopped making sense.

So I try to go slowly and actually listen. If a student needs to hear something explained four different ways before it lands, that's fine, and it's not a reflection on them. I'd rather spend twenty minutes on the thing underneath the problem than rush ahead and have us both pretend it's sorted.

Engineering gave me a practical view of Maths and Physics, which helps. My final-year project involved simulating vibration in turbine blades, so when a student asks what any of this is actually for, I have a proper answer instead of "it's on the syllabus."

Outside of tutoring I am employed as a lifeguard and run a small business repairing and reselling phones, which has made me reliable about turning up and replying to messages far more than my degree ever did. I also own a 30-year-old BMW that I'm slowly restoring, which has taught me patience largely against my will.

I achieved a first in my Mechanical Engineering degree this summer at University of Sussex. . I teach GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics, and I can help with first-year university engineering maths and mechanics too if that's what you're after.

The first thing I'll ask is what you want to get out of it. If you already know what's wrong, tell me and we'll start there. Plenty of people come in knowing exactly where they struggle.

If you're not sure, that's completely normal, and we'll work it out together. I'll usually get you to attempt a past paper to see where your gaps in knowledge are.

After that I plan around what actually came up and explain concepts in a way that you will understand, and I'll keep checking it's still what you need. If something isn't working, say so, I won't be offended.

I use papers and mark schemes from your own exam board rather than generic worksheets. The boards word things differently and it matters more than it should.

Expect to be attempting problems most of the time, with me asking questions and stepping in when you're stuck. I'll also show you how marks are actually awarded.

Physics is where I'm strongest. My final-year project was on vibration in turbine blades, so forces, energy and mechanics I know properly.

An hour suits most GCSE work. For A-Level and university I'd suggest 90 minutes due to the complexity of the questions.
