About Nicole

I received A*s in mathematics at secondary school level, with my grades in my final school exams (the Irish Leaving Certificate) being high enough to earn me four separate scholarships/awards going into university. I wrote my university dissertation (earning one of the top marks in my year) on the history and development of mathematics education, and I enjoy creating tailored lessons and classes for every individual student in order to maximise their learning potential.

About the lesson

Hi! I'm a first-class honours mathematics graduate with years of experience privately tutoring mathematics students of all levels.

My Experience:
-I have almost six years of experience in tutoring mathematics to students from primary level up to undergraduate level (working part-time throughout university and after graduation),
-I received a first-class honours mathematics degree (74%) from Trinity College Dublin in November 2021,
-I have studied mathematics education techniques in-depth at a university level, taking several modules on the topic and writing my university dissertation on maths education,
-I have significant experience in writing and producing my own material for maths lessons, giving tailored notes to the students that are unique to them and their learning style/ability, and
-I am well-versed in taking an "exam-focused" viewpoint on lessons, and can ensure that students succeed in their exams by practicing exam-style questions and exam techniques from day one (if required).

My Teaching Ethos:
My approach to tutoring is incredibly detailed and personalised.

Every student is different, and every lesson plan should reflect that. I use a mixture of exam questions, textbook problems, and personalised notes to ensure that the student is progressing in line with the goals and objectives which I set for each lesson. I am an organised tutor, making sure that I am bearing these goals in mind and have them ready in advance for each lesson, alongside an overall individual (and detailed) lesson/goal timeline for them. I provide any notes straight after lessons, and if required I will send any necessary material to the student before the lesson with enough time for them to see it.

Furthermore, I can be available on WhatsApp to answer any urgent questions a student may have about their material (and, if necessary, I can provide written-out answers or solutions to questions outside of lesson time, at a minimal extra cost).

Above all, I like to make sure that the lesson remains engaging and fun! Maths is my passion and I believe that it can be so interesting and exciting, and I aim to convey that to my students wherever possible.
