About Lucy
I'm a 24-year-old graduate trying to establish a career in teaching, hoping to get some more experience through online and in-person lessons to strengthen my applications to work in schools.
As a bit of a self-starter, I have previously tutored through Facebook ads in Canada, where I've just come back from doing a working holiday. I have developed a love for sharing my passion for ancient languages with people and want to pursue a career in teaching.
At university I went with no A-levels, and only a college diploma in agriculture, only having done Latin and Ancient Greek at GCSE at school. My academic success didn't come naturally to me and I've felt like I can empathise with people who have felt unconfident in their studies, maybe have a sense of 'imposter syndrome', or just feel like they're 'in over their head'. I want to help motivate the student who might be struggling with these things and share what worked for me.

Relaxed, student-led lessons where I like to explore an aspect of the Classical world which really appeals to the student, whether that be a funnier story, fun history, myths or different strain of the language (Koine (biblical)/ Aeolic/ Ionic Greek).
I find that sharing my enthusiasm for the Classical world is easily done when the lessons adapt to the student - Latin and Ancient Greek can be hard-going, so making sure the student is engaged is the most important part. I'm offering tutoring to pre-GCSE, A-level and University students, or anyone who fancies being able to read some Latin inscriptions when they go to Rome!
Happy to just be translation guidance, I have ample resources, such as Autenrieth's Homeric dictionary, all John Taylor books, Cambridge Latin course books and Penguin Classics translations of the texts. I can also share the best websites and resources to use to aid in independent study.
I can also offer additional help with dissertations, as I obtained a first for mine and felt like my engagement with my dissertation supervisor has given me a lot of valuable insight into what the markers are looking for, which I'd love to pass on.
I have travel so can offer my services in person in Bristol and surrounding areas, as far north as Worcestershire.
