About Hilda
Hi, I'm Hilda, a final-year undergraduate student at University College London (UCL) with a passion for helping students achieve their full potential in English Language and English Literature.
I have experience supporting students from Year 7 to Year 13, including those with additional educational needs, across a range of subjects. Through my tutoring and mentoring work, I have helped students improve their understanding of key concepts, develop effective study habits, and prepare confidently for exams.
As someone who originally spoke Persian and learned English as a second language, I understand first-hand the challenges that can come with mastering English. Achieving Grade 9 in both GCSE English Language and English Literature showed me that success is not about natural talent—it's about developing the right skills, strategies, and confidence.
This is one of the reasons I am particularly passionate about supporting both first- and second-language learners. I want students to see that strong English skills can be learned and improved over time. If I was able to develop those skills and succeed academically, then you can too. My aim is to help students unlock the fundamental reading, writing, analytical, and exam skills that will allow them to excel not only in English but across many subjects.
I create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs, helping them make steady progress and achieve their academic goals.

My lessons focus on developing the key skills needed for success in GCSE English Language and English Literature. I explain concepts clearly, build strong foundations in analysis and essay writing, and help students apply their knowledge through past-paper questions and exam-style tasks.
To support learning, I provide personalised resources, including revision guides, essay structures, annotation techniques, and visual diagrams that simplify complex themes, characters, language devices, and literary concepts. These resources are designed to make difficult ideas more accessible and easier to remember.
I also help students improve their reading comprehension, critical analysis, and written communication skills while developing effective exam techniques. My approach aims to build confidence, strengthen understanding, and enable students to tackle challenging questions independently and achieve their full potential.
