About Jaidan

I’m a 20yr old student from Imperial College London offering tutoring in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, English and French, as well as preparation for the 11+ and some University application processes. I am available to simply consolidate misunderstood topics, or to provide a stable, secondary learning environment for the entire year where the student can choose topics or assignments they would like help on.

I attended a leading all-boys Grammar School and managed to attain an exceptionally high score in my 11+. I then achieved 13 GCSEs at Grades 9-7, 4 AS Levels at AAAA and 4 A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, French and Maths at A*A*AA respectively. After my first year at Imperial College, I recieved a First Class distinction, and anticipate to maintain this grade throughout my time there. After undergrad, I plan to take a Masters in Biochemical Engineering, with the hopes that one day I may launch my own Biotech startup in California. Overall, I’m a sociable, enthusiastic, caring and meticulous person, who loves to put my all into everything I do.

About the lesson

Having been tutored myself for 11+ and GCSEs, I know first hand what makes an engaging, professional and adept tutor. I took the best aspects from my own experience, combined them with new techniques I’d been taught at school, as well as revision methods I researched myself, to create a thorough tuition programme for my KS3 tutees when I was in Year 12. Despite being prematurely terminated by COVID, I accumulated over 100 hours of tutoring experience. For 2 students in the year below me, I took them through their Biology and Chemistry curriculums after-school, twice a week, consolidating the topics that had been taught to them the week before. This included a mini-lesson, reversed-teaching, quick flash questions, and finally longer exam-style questions. In this way, the students reinforced new topics over multiple consecutive weeks, helping them retain information more effectively than just waiting until the standard revision -period. With another student, I worked through her homework and coursework, before scheduling sessions to go over problem areas I’d identified, so that not only were her assignments done exceptionally, her fundamental understanding of those topics were also strengthened. Now at University, I am able to provide students with the latest apps, websites and note-taking platforms that I use at degree-level, which have integrated revision tools to massively increase productivity. Everyone learns differently, so I adapt my style of tutoring to each individual student, with the focus being on true understanding of a topic rather than memorisation of fact.

I really enjoy seeing my students reach their full potential, and take great reward from watching them become more confident in their own academic abilities.
