About Joshua
I am student in the final year of an integrated masters degree in biochemistry. I have been a Kumon teacher for over 5 years and have tutored children in maths from learning to count up to GCSE level problem solving. As well as this, I have in-depth knowledge of my degree subject and have casually tutored friends and acquaintances in biology and chemistry throughout my A-levels and degree.

I appreciate that students are individuals and will find different teaching methods that work best for them. As such, my first lesson centres around finding the most effective teaching techniques, as well as identifying the subject areas that require the most attention. I prefer to begin a new topic with simple explanations and visual aids to begin creating a solid understanding of the fundamental aspects. This is then built up through practice questions and gradual addition of new information to complete a stable framework of knowledge. In addition to this, regular testing helps to maintain the new knowledge and improve confidence, especially in an exam environment.
