About John
I am a final year medical student at Southampton University currently based in Guildford for placement. I am delighted to offer personalised tuition in the basic sciences, as well as tailored help with university applications. Please do send me a message to find out more!
I have been tutoring now for several years with a private company, and have also enjoyed informally teaching others within my course. I was particularly pleased to graduate from King's College London in 2019 with a first class BSc in Physiology, and receive a special mention for my teaching skill in a module on the physiology of blood vessels.
My teaching style is a slightly modified Socratic method based on asking you questions to get you to the answer in your own way - I know that for me information I've got to grips with myself sticks in my head much better! Importantly, in my lessons, no question is too daft. My most significant learning experience was with my driving instructor who, after slamming on the brake when I nearly crashed, simply yawned and said 'Better now than in the test'. I have taken this philosophy with me in all my teaching - better you ask me now and we calmly resolve the issue than you make a mistake in your exam!
