About Sharon

I find great pleasure and fulfilment when working with children. I aspire to make a change in the younger generation when it comes to how they think and perceive the world, not just in themselves, but also with the people around them. I want to inspire creativity, individuality, passion, drive, confidence and above all humility unto their young mindsets to see them grow and conquer their dreams despite the inevitable obstacles that life has in place for us all. Therefore, I was inspired to pursue a degree in teaching to acquire the necessary competences that will equip me to make a marking difference in our ever-evolving educational system.
As a part-time babysitter, I believe I have gained essential knowledge and skills for taking full responsibility of a child’s wellbeing in both controlled and uncontrollable circumstances. Passion and patience are key qualities that encourages me to work with children on a day-to-day basis. My experience from working with children in their comfort zone has strengthened and equipped me to ensure that I possess the qualities of good teacher. Qualities such as, reliability, being well prepared beforehand, having good communication skills, multitasking, ensuring that discipline is maintained, being creative, attentive, and empathetic while keeping a healthy and inclusive learning environment.
Over few years I have had the opportunity to complete my teaching practices in several schools and I am humbled to say that my professional ethics as an educator are developing steadily which encourages me to put in extra work towards improving my teaching capability every single day. Respect and acknowledgement are significant between the teacher and the learner because this permits trust and appreciation between the two, and therefore, creates and environment where teaching and learning is favourable and beneficial for all.

About the lesson

The two main paradigms of education I draw from when imparting knowledge and skills, as well as facilitating a learning experience, in or outside the classroom, is Cognitive constructivism by the theorist Piaget Vygotsky and Behaviour by the theorist Pavlov Skinner. Paying close attention to these patterns enables learners to acquire and create new knowledge, while shaping their behaviour through individual support. This allows the teacher as a facilitator to thoroughly observe and measure learners’ ability to acquire the knowledge and skills, of not only the information provided, but beyond the specific subject area.
