About Charlotte

I Graduated from Leeds Trinity University with a BA Hons Degree in Philosophy, Ethics and Religion

I have 14 GCSEs A*-C including Maths, English and Science

I have worked with many different children at many different ability levels in maths and phonics/reading

Whilst working in many schools over the course of four years, I noticed the need for 1:1 tutoring support for children as it is common for them to feel left behind in the sea of numbers in the mainstream school system. I first developed my skills as a teaching assistant both within mainstream schools and SEND provisions, which has provided me with the inclusive skills of working with all children at all learning abilities and speeds.

My past students have reached two grades higher than expected at school, which shows that the child only needed extra time and 1:1 support on a topic in order to reach their true potential.

About the lesson

At the start of every lesson I present the area covered unless the child is needing support in a different area, then I will change my lesson plan to support that individual child's immediate needs.

My lesson plans go as follows
1. Me modelling an example question
2.Me and the child working through an example question together
3.The child working through a question independently whilst describing to me what the steps to correctly answer the question are
4.I then go through the question with the child highlighting their success which immediately provides them with confidence
My teaching motto is to present/practice/produce
My aim is to improve accuracy and increase speed using visual/aural/kinesthetic teaching techniques
I pride myself on motivating children through different methods and questions to engage and ensure that learning takes place, I do this by making every lesson interesting and memorable as it is vital for information to be processed from the short-term to the long-term memory.
I am well equipped in finding explanations and methods that work for different types of learners
My lessons are one hour long
I have a BA Hons Degree in Philosophy, Ethics and Religion
I have worked in many schools with children aged 5-11 years both in mainstream schools and SEND provisions meaning I know the current teaching curriculum
