About Maryam

My name is Maryam, and I am a passionate Mathematics tutor with over eleven years of experience teaching students at every level — from young beginners discovering numbers for the first time to university students working through advanced calculus and mathematical proofs.

I hold an MPhil in Mathematics, and since 2015, my mission has been simple: to take a subject that so many students fear and help them not only understand it, but genuinely enjoy it and feel proud of what they can achieve.

Over the years, I have prepared students for some of the world's most competitive examinations, including the SAT, TMUA, AIME, and the Gauss competition, consistently achieving strong outcomes. I am experienced across seven major international curricula — including IB, IGCSE, GCSE, American, British, and New Zealand — so regardless of where you are in the world or what qualification you are working towards, I can support you with both confidence and precision. Being bilingual in English and Urdu also allows me to connect with a broader range of students and families.

My approach is structured, patient, and deeply personalized. I take the time to understand how each student thinks, identify where the gaps are, and build a clear path forward. Every lesson is thoughtfully planned and delivered with purpose, and I always provide honest, constructive feedback so that progress is visible and meaningful.

I understand how overwhelming mathematics can feel — and I also know how life-changing that moment is when everything finally clicks. My aim goes beyond helping you pass an exam. I want to build the kind of genuine, lasting understanding that gives you real confidence, not just in the classroom, but in every challenge that lies ahead.

About the lesson

I hold an MPhil in Mathematics and have been teaching students of all ages since 2015 — from young children building their first number skills to adults returning to education. My experience spans primary, secondary, college, university, and adult levels.

My approach begins with understanding exactly where each student stands, then building their knowledge steadily at a pace that works for them. I use real-world examples to make abstract ideas feel relevant, ask guiding questions that lead students to discover answers themselves, and foster a calm, patient environment where every question is welcomed.

A typical session follows a clear structure: we open with a brief review of the previous topic, introduce something new, work through it together, and then the student tackles problems independently. We close with a summary and a look ahead at what's coming next. The structure is consistent, but always flexible — if something needs more time, we take it.

I am experienced across seven major curricula, including IB, IGCSE, GCSE, American, British, and New Zealand, which means students transitioning between systems never need to start from scratch with a new tutor. Being bilingual in English and Urdu is a genuine asset for South Asian families around the world.

I also specialize in high-stakes exam preparation — SAT, TMUA, AIME, and Gauss — and my MPhil background means I can always explain the *why* behind the mathematics, not just the *how*.
