About Caitlin

With over 8 years of experience teaching both in-person and online, I have guided guitarists of all levels to discover their creative voice. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance with a focus on Contemporary Styles, and this background shapes the way I teach. My lessons emphasize compositional techniques, arranging for guitar, and creating original music. I believe every guitarist has a unique story to tell, and my role is to help bring that story to life. Lessons often include harmonic concepts, melodic invention, and even explorations of counterpoint. Students also learn how to capture their ideas by recording simple demos. I adapt to the goals of each learner, whether they are beginners just starting out or advanced players seeking refinement. Professional and aspiring composers also find support in my approach, as I offer tools to develop their own voice. Sessions are interactive and tailored to both skill and creativity. I encourage students to think like both musicians and creators. My goal is not just to improve playing, but to unlock artistry. Music should always be expressive, personal, and fun. About the lesson

My teaching approach is built on connecting theory to the guitar in practical and simple ways. Many players find theory intimidating, but I work to show how it applies directly to the fretboard. We cover scales and modes not as abstract ideas, but as tools for improvising and building melodies. Chord construction is explained clearly, so you understand how harmonies work and how to create your own voicings. Harmonic analysis is also introduced, helping you recognize progressions and patterns in the music you love. Lessons balance learning concepts with applying them to real songs. I believe that once theory is tied to sound, it becomes exciting and useful. The Aspiring Rock Star can learn how scales fuel solos, while The Classical Purist sees how harmony shapes structure. Both paths benefit from tailored guidance that makes knowledge usable. My sessions adapt to each student’s goals, whether performing or composing. Improvisation is encouraged at every step to build fluency. Composition projects bring creativity into focus. The aim is always to make theory something you can hear and play. Together, we build a strong foundation that supports growth in every style of music.
