About Radhika
Hello! I am a 10+ year tutor who specializes in English- specifically in reading comprehension and writing. I have tutored at several universities in Silicon Valley, as well as after school programs aimed at remedial English and test prep. I have a bachelor's degree in Sociology and am currently pursuing my second degree in Data Science. I grew up and currently reside in Silicon Valley. I am fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu and can teach in any three of these languages.

For remedial and elementary level students, I aim to create reading fun, which can be challenging in a world of social media. I try to gear lessons towards my students' interests to pique their curiosity in reading. For example, if a student is interested in space, I aim to read and write space fiction or nonfiction before pivoting towards subjects they may not be so fond of. The reason for this is simple, forming the skills needed to effectively read and write is much easier when it's a subject a student is interested in. Then, they can take those skills and apply it to something they may not love, like classic American literature. These sessions range from 1 - 2 hours and are comprised of an even split between vocabulary, reading and grammar/writing. If my session is geared towards homework help or older students, then I will structure it around what that student needs the most. I tailor my lesson plan to each individual student, identifying their weaknesses and try to work with a well-rounded approach to teaching.
