About Grace

Hi there! My name is Grace, I am a senior in high school who has been playing the violin for 10 years. I'm no professional but I play in an outstanding high school program, in our string, symphony, and chamber orchestra. We have been top performers in both state-wide and national competitions, namely MICCA and Festivals of Music. I have been teaching lessons for a little while, and due to the pandemic I cannot attend my job, so I am looking to pick up more lessons students. I would be an ideal teacher for someone who would not yet require the services of a professional. Their expertise is wonderful, but can be very expensive, and so someone who is still a high schooler can be just as helpful to a less experienced player for a lower cost. I love playing the violin. It has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I enjoy sharing my skills with younger students so that they too can grow up with an appreciation for the fine arts.

I have been playing the violin for 10 years, and I have been a counselor at a music camp for 3 years. While I only have 6 months of personal tutoring experience, the counselor experience had me personally teaching small groups of children.

About the lesson

I would start by talking to them about their experience as a player and how much they have already learned, and then I would like them to play something that they already know for me (if they have something available). Then we can go from there with assigning scales and pieces to practice!

I have worked mainly with players in between 10-15 years old, with varying levels of experience, but anyone is more than welcome.

Look for a teacher that can offer what you need at a reasonable price. A student who has only been playing for 2 years probably does not need to be paying $50 per half hour for someone with a masters in musical education.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Most importantly, can you take lessons over video chat? How long have you been playing for? Have you had a lessons teacher before, and if so, how long have you been taking lessons? How often do you practice? How often would you like to take a lesson? Do you need shorter and more frequent lessons as check ins, or would you do well with more independence?

I would like to charge $15 for a half hour. A teacher with academic qualifications would charge a minimum of $25.
