About Abdallah

I am active in the marching band community as well as the music community in Utah, and I can also teach visual techniques that will transfer over to marching band.

Watching the excitement in my students' face when they play well is what I truly enjoy about teaching.

I was initially going to school for music performance, but in 2019, I was given the opportunity to teach the Orem High School Marching Band. At Orem, I realized just how much I loved teaching, and the joy I felt when I saw my students succeed made me realize I actually wanted to be a music educator. To this day, I still work with Orem's marching band, and they have been very successful.

I have performed in various ensembles, most notably The Battalion, a drum and bugle corps based in Salt Lake City. Through The Battalion, I found different approaches to playing music, as well as new techniques, that helped me grow rapidly as a musician. For this summer, I am auditioning for the Blue Knights, who is considered one of the best ensembles in Drum Corps International, and through their education, I have also learned different techniques that have helped me improve.

About the lesson

For the first lesson, I actually choose not to teach. I take the first lesson to meet and connect with my student, as well as conduct a sort of "benchmark" test. I use this test to evaluate my student's current level, and to help me find where to start. This benchmark mainly focuses on fundamental technique, range, etc.
