About Mayline

Hello! I’m Mayline, and I’ve loved teaching and mentoring since I was 15 - that was when I had my first formal tutoring job. Since then, I’ve combined formal roles and informal mentoring to support learners of all ages in reaching their full potential. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance, encouragement, and tailored approach. My goal is to make learning enjoyable, build confidence, and help each student develop skills that go beyond exams. With over 5 years of tutoring experience and a strong academic background, I bring professionalism, empathy, and dedication to every lesson. Whether you’re preparing for entrance exams or navigating the challenges of the IB, I’m here to support your journey every step of the way.

About the lesson

Hello, I’m Mayline! With 5+ years of private and group tutoring and 2 years as a teaching assistant in an English primary school, I specialise in supporting Year 5–8 students through the crucial transition from primary to secondary school, especially for Grammar School entry. Having attended two Grammar Schools myself and completed the IB with 40 points, I understand the academic and personal challenges involved. My lessons are tailored, interactive, and usually last 60, 90, or 120 minutes depending on frequency and student needs. Longer sessions include breaks and varied activities to maintain attention and engagement, combining structured exam prep with fun, confidence-building exercises. For older students, particularly those studying the IB, my approach is more holistic. We explore Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and CAS requirements alongside subject-specific support to help you develop critical thinking, research skills, and balanced time management.
