About Eric
I've been working with glass for over 25 years creating art but my true passion is teaching. Being able to share my knowledge with beginners and advanced students is a refreshing change of pace. In addition to running the flameworking glass program at MIT I run a private studio in Somerville where I teach 1-4 students at a time.
To date I've taught over 2000 folks how to safely work with glass behind a torch. It's my belief that a private lesson is the best way to learn where there is no judgment or distractions from strangers also taking a workshop. A setting where you can focus on your project while enjoying a memorable experience with friends & family.

With new beginner students a typical class starts off with safety training & learning about the equipment. After that we move on to basic welding & stretching color. Then you'll watch a quick demo where you'll learn the basics to jump into your first project. Typically in the first lesson people start small creating objects like wine stoppers, marbles, pendants, earrings, shot glass, ornaments & jars.
