A high schooler with a passion for teaching and Spanish!

The expression of awe on a student's face after succeeding for the first time make it all worth it!

I got started teaching my freshman year of high school when my teacher began to notice that some students were not grasping the content. So, she proposed that I tutor for community service hours. Since then, I have been actively tutoring through teacher reccomendations and school programs.

I have been enrolled in high school Spanish classes at Troy High School, CA and Mead High School, WA. Though my skills were definitely refined through formal education, I was raised in Southern California, which is comprised of mainly native Spanish-speakers. My surroundings ultimately allowed me to cultivate an appreciation and an initial understanding of colloquial as well as formal Spanish.

About the lesson

I like to begin by asking them directly if there are any specific concerns or troubles they are having, then addressing those. It's important to me that they feel understood from the start.

I have worked with students on both ends of the comprehension spectrum, though I have the most experience with those who are entirely out of touch with fundamental Spanish concepts. My approach is to construct a firm foundation through innovative and memorable study techniques.

Having been tutored in other subjects before, I have two pieces of advice for students seeking an instructor: 1) be sure you genuinely like him/her, and 2) never be afraid to speak up! We get paid to help you, and by the same token, would never want you to feel like there is a barrier between us.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I don't feel that there are necessarily and specific questions that should be contemplated in advance, however, it is crucial that students keep in mind any struggles or concerns they have in terms of content.
