About Rebecca

Hello! My name is Rebecca and I am currently a full time student at American University as well as a Spanish tutor. I am a professionally trained interpreter and translator as well as a Native Spanish speaker. I have worked for a translation company and am a meme bet of the National Spanish Honors Society. Whether you are just beginning to learn Spanish or are years into the learning process I love helping people learn the joys of this beautiful language! Additionally, I am able to help with test prep, classes, casual learning, etc.

I love watching people finally understand a concept that had been difficult for them. Language learning is extremely difficult and I commend anyone taking the steps to learn a language! I like knowing that in some small way, my tutoring could have helped someone.

My mother was a Spanish tutor and after I was trained in translating and interpreting I began to do the same.

I have been professionally trained to do translation and interpretation and I am a Native speaker.

About the lesson

I typically email the student before, asking about their specific needs and wants when it comes to learning. This is to not only ensure that I will be prepared to teach, but also to be certain that I am the right tutor.

All kinds! I have worked with elementary, middle, and highschool students.

I would say to be sure that your tutor is not only qualified but also a good fit for the student. Sometimes, the style and personality of the teacher and student do not work out-- and that's okay! There are plenty of tutors out there, but that is something to remember going into the tutoring/learning process.

I recently made the permanent move to D.C!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Definitely consider both your long term and short term goals! If your goal is to pass a Spanish class or do well on the SAT Spansih subject test, it is a different kind of focus than wanting to learn Spanish long term. Also, if you're not sure what you need, as a tutor I can absolutely help in contructing a basic study plan until you are more certain.
