About Kenneth

I have an extremely broad range of musical styles I have sung in professionally, from classical concert singing, opera, musical theater, folk, and Jewish liturgical music. I speak several languages and sing in over a dozen languages.

For many years, I have taught children, both in classroom and individual settings, and I have taught many adults of all ages and backgrounds.

Significantly, I am one of the few practioners of Vocal Behavior Training, having studied this method for decades under its founder, Dr. Raymond Smolover, and have been Senior Associate for almost 2 decades. This is THE most effective method for building the strength of the singing and speaking voice available. Combined with my method of learning how to make singing easy and natural, my students enjoy very fast growth as singers and musicians!

Every lesson is exciting for me. It is an opportunity to see my students grow and flourish, and for me, I get another chance to learn as well and become a better teacher than I was just yesterday! I am truly blessed to be able to do what I am doing!

About the lesson

First off, developing a rapport with my students and making a good assessment as to where my students are developmentally is key. Each student has different goals, strengths, and interests. It is important for me to know about these, as well as the overall state of health of a new student before embarking on their singing journey with me. People from different walks of life come with skill sets they already have, and an integral part of my work is to tap into that body of wisdom they already have, whether it be as an instrumentalist, dancer, athlete, acting, etc. Singing becomes so much easier when students can draw upon these lessons they've already learned and simply recontextualize them for the voice. One of my main goals is for students to discover how EASY singing can be when they learn how to let go of so many tensions and unhealthy habits of holding their posture. Then, after establishing a baseline of relaxation, they are constantly amazed at how much they can do with their voices!
