About Heather

I am a certified Vocologist as well as a singing and voice work for Actor's teacher. A Vocologist is a teacher who has completed advanced training in vocal anatomy and physiology and the physics of sound. I am able to work with singers with voice disorders such as singers recovering from nodes. The advantage of having a Vocologist for a teacher is that I can implement voice healing exercises into your normal voice warmups.

I also am a lifetime yoga practitioner and have written a book called Vocal Yoga so I incorporate yoga techniques into my teaching.

I love teaching and I love my students! I have taught for USC, Santa Monica College, Arizona State University and more.

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced professional, you are welcome in my studio.

Check out my website for lots about my work: vocalyoga.com

About the lesson

I love to teach and I am always excited to meet a new person who is interested in exploring their voice. I believe in teaching the anatomy and physiology of the voice so the singer knows about their instrument. I begin with breathing and then I teach them how to power their voice from the core and how to produce the best resonance that they can.

We also work on song material to apply what they've learned and on performance techniques. I also teach acting for singers, which is very important as singers are storytellers.

The unique aspect of my teaching is that I incorporate techniques from yoga into my teaching.
