About

I'm laid back and I am not approaching singing from the perspective of a musically trained individual who is convinced that knowing how to read music or doing scales is key to learning how to improve one's vocal capabilities or a requirement to start getting comfortable with you are now as a beginner and how to move forward. My entire youth was actually dedicated to playing soccer and I was able to reach my childhood dream of signing a contract to play a couple seasons of pro ball. That might sound completely unrelated, but the path I have been on to improve my vocals has been paved with the realization of just how "athletic" singing is, and how being able to tap into the mind-body connection has been critical to making improvements because at the end of the day, the vocal mechanisms are in need of innervation, coordination and strength. In the same way that no one can complete an Olympics gymnastics routine without training but might be able to run across the floor and do a cartwheel, it is only through hundreds and thousands of hours of developing the coordination and strength to have command of the body in such a thorough manner that allows someone to complete a polished routine. The same is true with the components of the vocal mechanisms and I would like to help by explaining this from an athletic and physiological perspective. No experience necessary, if you can hum, you can sing!

Perfect! Toms straightforward advice helped me to get on the right path to sing with strength and clarity. His lessons are full of useful info on the functions of the throat which helped me to understand what I was really doing when I sing.
