About Sam
-Students will recieve individual attention as there will be a max of only 2 athletes per group. This allows for more growth than can be achieved in the larger groups. The javelin is my best event to coach but I am very good with the discus and shot put as well. Every skill level is welcome to come out and work towards their goals. I will be giving drills, technique etc as homework for the athletes to work on in between sessions so they can make additional improvements.
- I have been throwing almost my entire life. I am 28 now and in 2016 I competed in the Rio Olympics for Team USA in the Javelin. The previous year I made the world championship team in Beijing, China. I attended college and competed at the University of Oregon where I won 4 Pac 12 titles as well as 2 National Championships in the Javelin. In high school I broke the National record in the javelin with a throw of 255' with my best throw in discus being 205'10" and shot put 66'. My best throw in my career in Javelin was 274'. Whether you are just a beginner or a very advanced thrower I believe I can help you reach your goals and I think you can have fun in the process!

Every student is different and goes at a different pace. Typically I start slowly to see where the athlete is and how much I need to add or take away.
I have worked with students of all skill levels. Some guys who throw 35' and some who throw close to 60' and to be honest all of them work on similar technique and methods. There is no real secret. One thing I can promise is that if you come out and do all the drills at home you will get better.
I would say really think of what you are looking for. Are you just trying to improve as an athlete. Or are you wanting a full experience where you also improve as a person and grow. I think you just have to look within yourself and find the right coach because that match is important. There are alot of good coaches out there that now the x's and o's but communication is one thing many are missing and the connection.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
If they have ever been injured before. If they have a medical history that might prevent them from doing someting. These are all things coaches need to know. The more coaches the better so you can figure things out before hand.
