A little background about myself;
I have tutored in the summers prior/during University at home in Bristol.
I have just graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in economics My hobbies include playing the bassoon, DJing and swimming recreationally. I will be joining the Civil Service as an economist this coming year.

Hi, I’m James!
I have a broad range of experiences in tutoring, mainly focusing on maths and economics, but also in geography and politics (A-Level). I tutor across secondary ages 11-18. I have also supported several SEN children/young adults, through private tutoring and extensive voluntary work with MENCAP.
My teaching style is relaxed, honest and led by applied exercises. I try to base any learning in real-world examples, as through personal experience, it is much more engaging to see how subjects affect everyday life and can be seen in the news! Typically, I set an agreed amount of self-study at the end of a session to be covered in the next. This helps me identify areas to improve a student’s understanding.

James is a great tutor. He is patient and understanding, and communicates concepts in a clear, accessible way; while also being very thorough in his explanations. Overall very helpful and grateful to have benefitted from his time and knowledge.
James supported my son through GCSE maths, building a strong and relaxed relationship throughout the teaching process.
He went to efforts to make sure all learning had examples based around my son's interests (football!) to make the learning as intuitive as possible.
