About Ayla

As an ESL teacher in Poland, I had a lovely student who, for the purpose of this we will call Sebastian. Sebastian wasn't doing too well academically on his English assignments for school, so he came to me.

I was floored at the confidence Sebastian had speaking English! He could carry out full stories with minimal corrections by me. I decided we could watch some scenes from Harry Potter together (I learned he was a big fan). And again - he blew my mind with his comprehension.

I asked Sebastian, how come your grades don't reflect this?

He said, "No one's ever talked to me like this before."

That was one of the most rewarding moments I've had with a student.

I am a current fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Previously, I have taught English as a Second Language to Polish native speakers aged 7 to adult.

As a high schooler, I was a member of number honors societies including English, French Language, Science, Math, and History. As a part of these societies, I tutored other high schoolers with skills such as essay writing.

In addition, I am well-versed in formulating lesson plans through my work as an assistant preschool teacher for three years.

About the lesson

I have worked with a large variety of age ranges, spanning preschool to high school.

Students of any and all abilities are welcome! I have extensive experience with adapting to different learning styles and/or needs, as well as special needs students.

My rates depend on how much support the student is in need of.

Hourly rates range from $32-42/hour.

I am very flexible with my hours. Any time of day or day of the week is manageable for me.
