About Rebeca
Hello! I am currently a licensed Elementary Teacher. I have taught in public schools and have done private tutoring for grades K-6. During tutoring sessions, I get to know the child and find the right tools that will best help him or her. My goal is to help my students find joy in reading and writing and build strong skills in literacy. I specialize in reading and writing and currently am in my last year of graduate school pursuing a Masters at Teachers College.
Changing the attitude of my students from "I hate reading (writing) I'm not good at it," to "I love it! I can't put this book down!" brings me so much joy. To help the student become proud of their own accomplishments and see their own growth leaves a greater impact than just improvements in grades.

1. Have a conference with the student (do a reading/writing survey)
2. For reading I do running records assessments to see their independent reading levels and see what their strengths and weaknesses for improvement.
3. For writing I do pre assessments on either opinion, narrative, informative based on the common core standards.
