About Christina

I am an elementary teacher that loves supporting students' strengths and needs. I am a licensed teacher in the areas of elementary education, middle school language arts, and special education. When working with a student, I get to know him/her as an individual and tailor tutoring sessions to meet his/her needs. I work with students to build their foundational skills and help them find success in school.

I love watching students grow academically as they work with me. My instruction is very data-driven, so I track student progress with regular assessments to ensure that what we are doing is working. Seeing a students' progress through the data I collect is impactful and rewarding. I also love getting to know students as individuals, learning what they like and are interested in, so that I can make tutoring sessions fun and engaging.

I started teaching after I graduated college in 2013. I taught 4th grade for 4 years and then taught 1st grade for 1 year. After getting my Master's Degree in Special Education, I started teaching elementary special education. I am currently in my 3rd year of teaching elementary special education.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from The College of St. Benedict with a concentration in language arts. I also have a Master's Degree in Special Education from St. Mary's University with a concentration in learning disabilities. I am a licensed teacher in Minnesota with endorsements in K-5 Elementary Education, 6-8 Language Arts, and K-12 Special Education.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I start with facilitating some basic assessments to identify the students' strengths and areas to work on. I also like to find out what the student is working on in school. I then use the assessment data and school information to determine what to work on with the student to both build his/her foundational skills and find success in school.

I have worked with elementary students ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade of all abilities. When working with students with disabilities, I have worked with students with mild-moderate disabilities, including students with learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD.
