About Brandy

I strive to make sure my art speaks for me, and when I teach I make sure my students have learned in a way that speaks to them.

I teach several different techniques to do things.

I love seeing how my students creativity comes thru as they learn how to do what I have taught them. I can teach 5 people using the same technique but each will envision what they want from my instruction.

I was a nanny for several years, and enjoyed teaching them, tutoring them and watching them strive.
So, I combined my love of teaching kids with my love of art.

I have taken several different kinds of classes over the years, or simply did trial and error to get where I am today.
I have been doing pottery for 8 years ( be it wheel throwing or hand building).
I have been teaching Kids Wheel throwing for over a year now, with fairly good results.
I have been doing wire wrapping for 6 years, and learned via a friend in another state.
I have been doing Oil Pastel drawing for 15 years and learned how to do that growing up and in high school.

About the lesson

First thing I do is always introduce myself. That way, when they need help or ask a question they know who to ask.
From there I start with basic technique, how to hold, mold or work with the equipment.
As I see technique, i add in advice ( helpful hints) to the student, so they learn to do it all for themselves.
I teach everything from setting up to cleaning up and various ways to do the same things ( so the student can find one that works for them).

I have worked with all kinds of students from the " non-artistic" to the very talented student.
I have also taught children with learning disabilities of various kinds. And have a son with Autism.
I have lots of patience to kids. ^_^

Ask questions, and dont be afraid to do so. The worst that can happen is the questions go unanswered ( not by me, but maybe by others).

I teach classes at Make South Bend, and as such we do so many classes and I enjoy these all immensely.

Details

The place I do my work at has the following fees: $10 daily for using the space

Below is a breakdown of costs per lesson type i offer.

Pottery/Ceramics is $10/hr standard plus $10 daily fee for the area i work in, plus $2 for the clay and $3 for the glaze. I do most of the clean up, but they will learn how to assemble and take apart/clean basic equipment. So total cost per lesson is $35

Oil Pastels is $10/hr plus $5 for materials. Plus the day pass of 10 dollars depending on age. price per class $35

Wire Wrapping $10/hr plus $10 for wire/other materials, plus the above fee for a day pass ranging $10. Total cost per class is $35

Prices can be discussed tho.
