About Jeremy

My goal as a piano teacher is to develop musicians who read well, play artistically, and are familiar with a variety of musical styles. I try to cater to each student's personality, providing an engaging, challenging approach for all learning styles. Lessons incorporate a balance of theory, ear training, sight reading and repertoire approach to the student's level and musical ability. The foundational objective that I have in every lesson is to increase a life-long understanding and enjoyment of piano playing.

Jeremy Adriano began playing the piano at age nine. He has a deep love for teaching and accompanying, and is finishing his Collaborative Piano Performance degree at Utah State University. He works as the university choir's accompanist and accompanies the Advanced Conducting class under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop (former director of the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir). Jeremy is frequently found working with vocalists and instrumentalists for various concerts, juries, and recitals. He is also a collaborative pianist for the musical theater department and has played for the Acting for the Musical Theatre class and served as the assistant musical director of an original musical titled, Talking To Clouds.

He has been seen performing with Utah State University's Piano Department, most notably in 2019 where he and his piano colleague, Derek Jenson, played Khatia Buniatishvili and Gvantsa Buniatishvili's rendition of Libertango by Astor Piazzolla. In the same year, Jeremy was hired by the Voice Department to play for their summer vocal performance camp titled, Too Darn Hot. Last October, he performed with Utah State University's Opera Department and their outdoor musical theater cabaret, playing selections from Les Miserables, Lucky Stiff, Songs for a New World, Hamilton, and several other productions. Jeremy has also professionally recorded choral music with Utah State University's Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Cory Evans.

The past two Summers, Jeremy spent his time working as a keyboardist for Pickleville Playhouse, a theater company located in Garden City, Utah, where he played in a four month long musical-melodrama production called Shootout at Shadow Mountain (2019) and Finding the Fickle Fortune (2020).

On the pedagogical side of his career, Jeremy has seven years of teaching experience. In addition to his private studio, Jeremy works part-time as a Piano Instructor at Utah State University's Youth Conservatory. He was also previously hired as a piano coach for Utah State University's Piano Summer Fest. Recently, he served as the keyboard instructor for Good Times School of Music summer camp.

At Utah State University, Jeremy Adriano is a recipient of the prestigious Caine Scholar for Excellence Scholarship, the Lillywhite Presidential Scholarship, and the Frank Blair and Minnie Fisher Ellsworth Scholarship.

About the lesson

Lesson Durations and Tuition

Tuition is due the first week of every month. Lessons may be terminated if tuition significantly falls behind. At times, there may be some materials that will need to be purchased. I will write any requests in the student's notebook.

Individual Private Lessons

$80 a month for three 40-minute lessons

$120 a month for three 60-minute lessons

Attendance/Cancellation

Prompt attendance is essential. Time will not be given to accommodate late arrivals. Every effort is made in the studio to stay on schedule.

1) Students may trade lesson times with another student. Contact me for a directory and notify me of any changes.

2) Students may cancel the lesson, however, no refund will be offered.



Performance

In addition to the 2-4 recitals that happen in a year, students participate in a monthly group performance. I also have my students participate in other local piano events when they arise, such as Utah State University's Monster Concert and PianoFest.

Parent’s Role

Parents MUST be present during the lesson. Parents should show interest in students' progress, support them with a positive attitude, and encourage them to practice and perform. Parents should supervise the personalized assignments I include in the students' notebook at each lesson. I encourage parents to speak with me about any concerns or questions.

At the studio

Since I often teach in succession while balancing classes, students should make every effort to arrive on time. Students should be prepared for the lesson, bringing their assignment notebook and assigned music books. Zoom lessons are also a possible option.

Preparation

Regular lesson attendance and practicing outside of lessons is necessary for consistent progress. Students are expected to practice at least six days per week, at a mutually-agreed-upon amount of time each day. The emphasis of practice should be on quality of the practice, not just on the time spent. The amount of daily practice time needed for students to accomplish their practice goals will increase as their skill level increases. In addition to assigned technique and repertoire, students should also complete assigned written theory homework.

Preparatory Levels: 30 minutes each day

Beginner: 45 Minutes each day

Intermediate: 60 Minutes each day

Advanced: 2-4 hours each day

Photography and Publicity

The instructor reserves the right to use photos taken during lessons, classes, and events. Photographs featuring registered students are considered eligible for publication or public use unless the students (or parent/guardian of students under 18) submit a request for non-use in writing prior to the date when the photograph appears.
