About Michael

Hi!

I'm Michael Anderson, a 30 plus year professional wedding, portrait, commercial photographer, and studio owner.

I have an extensive background in lighting photographs, as well as over 20 years of advanced Photoshop experience.

I will do my best to help you gain valuable knowledge and confidence in your photographic skills and have fun doing it too!

From simple lighting setups to complicated ones, I'll help you grasp the concepts so that you can put your own spin on it and start creating your style using good technique.

I am also an expert light painting photographer and have incorporated it into wedding photography, portrait photography, commercial, automotive, and aircraft photography.

Some of my credentials are listed below:

The Knot “Best of Weddings” 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011, 2009, and 2008.

Inducted into The Knot “Best of Weddings” Hall of Fame in 2015.

I hope I can help you with your photography skills.

A professional photography group in southern Minnesota asked me to speak to them about wedding photography.

I’ve been a member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA) for over 30 years.

A Kelby One member for more than 15 years - formerly the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP)

Back in the ’90s and early 2000s, I studied photography for many summers at the Mid-America Institute of Professional Photography (MAIPP) at the University of Northern Iowa.

About the lesson

I would prefer to start with a phone call or email to find out what a new student is looking to learn and then go from there.

I've taught professionals and amateurs as well.

Look for someone who loves what they're doing now, but is still learning more about what they do to become even better themselves!

Last week I light painting a police squad car and the Chief of Police and it turned out fantastic!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do I struggle with?

What do I want to do better?

What tools (skills and/or equipment) do I need to do better?

What do I want to achieve?
