About Nelson

I train according to the student's goals, needs, and abilities. Every student is differnt and should train to their strengths while increasing their abilities.

I absolutely get inspired by seeing my student's progress. This is why I do what I do, to see someone grow and become a highy capable martial artist.

I have a 6th Dan Black Belt in Sanuces Ryu Ju-Jitsu. I have been training in the martial arts and self-defense for over 45 years. I have practiced shotokan and kenpo karate, aikijitsudo ka self-defense, Atemi-Ryu Ju-jitsu and Aikido, tactical and situational self-defense, as well as Muay Thai, Brazilian/Gracie Jiujitsu, and Mixed Martial Arts.

I had my own self-defense and MMA gym in Hollywood, FL before moving to the Gulf Coast. I also currently train students, in the east coast, at Atemi-Ryu Dojos in Hollywood and Miami.

I am also a Life Coach and that helps me with the psychological aspects of training and sports-related performance psychology.

About the lesson

I always begin with an assessment of the individual student and get to understand their goals, needs, and determine their skill/ability level. This is how I begin to design a program to get them from where they are to where they want to be.
