About Ellen

Hi! My name is Ms. Tietjen and I am currently in my fourth year of teaching! I am currently certified to teach both Gen. Ed and Special Education. In my experience, I have taught students in both a self contained and ICT setting, to where I have met the needs of all my student populations. I have experience working with upper elementary students and middle school students in all subject areas. I aim to set goals with your child and find ways to achieve them by designed differentiated instruction to meet their needs!

Have been working with students, with a range of abilities in mathematics since I began teaching. I enjoy finding ways to make students understand to the best of their ability!

I have enjoyed working with students with a range of writing capabilities. I enjoy providing students with in the moment feedback, checklists and different strategies on how they can improve.

I aim to help your child succeed. I am continuously open to input and feedback on how I can help your child improve. Through continuous communication, your child can improve immensely through multiple facets !

I got started teaching after I finished my first Master's Degree. I was looking at the job field and I did not find a desirable job to fit what I wanted to do. I wanted to work with children and help them to succeed. I decided to enter into teaching to pursue this dream and have had the ability to work with some amazing kids over the years.

I currently am a full-time teacher who is in their fourth year. I have worked with a range of students, both in general education and special education. I work in an integrated co-teaching classroom to help adapt the material to meet the students individual needs.

About the lesson

I would like to first get to know the student and parent/guardian. Oftentimes, students and parents are aware of any potential areas of need and can help idenitfy where the child may be struggling. After conducting an informal conversation, I also like the opportunity to speak with the child's teach to gain further insight or request that a teacher fill out a brief questionaire, if that is okay with the parent/guardian, to gain further insight into the child. I would like to develop a plan or goals in order to help the child succeed and explain how I plan to determine those goals or if they have been achieved.

I have worked with both students with disabilities and students in the general education population.

Find a teacher who is able to adapt the material to meet your individual needs. There is not a "one size fits all" method for teaching and it is important that one's learning styles, preferences and material is being adapted to fit their individual needs.
