About Derek

I was always tutoring for one person or another and one day my sister in law presented an opportunity for me to teach at a prominent charter school in DC. That’s were much of my formal teacher training came from in that they extensively required professional developments to sharpen our craft. This was necessary because my degree was in Chemistry and not in education so much of the pedagogy was introduced within this organization.

BS Degree Chemistry - Lincoln University 95

NSTLB for teacher certification DC - 09

About the lesson

I conduct an initial interview to get an understanding of who the student is and then I give them a preassessment exam to get data on specific concept deficiencies.

I have worked with and currently work with students ranging from elementary to post-secondary levels.

Make sure that the teacher has your best interest in mind.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
First, when are they at their most comfortable place of learning material and then actually realizing what specifically they are deficient in.

Review

All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the teacher's students.

Derek is an outstanding tutor!! He has tutored my daughter in chemistry, algebra and physics during 9th & 10th grade; she is now a junior. Because of Derek, our daughter not only understood both her classwork and homework, but she also did very well on her exams for the courses she was tutored in by Derek. He knows the subject matter through and through and has an amazing and strong command of the content (physics, algebra and chemistry)!! He is dedicated, committed and always prepared. Derek also makes the student feel confident and comfortable in their work. I highly recommend Derek Moore and will be using his services again.

Absolutely amazing. Was very passionate about helping me learn and understand my material. Had great techniques on how to retain and learn the information that I was studying. I saw immediate results in my test, once I started working with Mr. Moore. The best thing I took from working with Mr. Moore was, the results that I got were more from the amount of work and effort that I put into it. He guided me very well and made sure I understood things and gave me challenges that allowed me to make my curriculum more understandable
