About Benjamin
Hi folks! My name is Ben Whipple, and I am a 40-something family man substitute teaching at Grand Traverse Academy while going to grad school for a Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. Man, that's a mouthful. While I jumped into substitute teaching as a way to make ends meet, it turns out that I really enjoy it! My favorite part, by far, has been when I get to sit down with individual students to help them figure out difficult mathematical concepts. Not only do I enjoy it, but students seem to find it helpful as well. I work hard at listening to each student, highlighting their strengths, and giving them new ways of seeing the problems. I've been able to help with math concepts ranging from prealgebra to precalculus, as well as elementary-level math (from other subbing assignments). I'm confident I can help students make progress in their math goals.
