About Melody
I have been teaching in the public elementary (mostly upper grades) schools now for 27 years. I have been able to help 1,000 students walk the learning path!
Every year of teaching is different; unique students, interesting learning styles, and changing curricula but it doesn't change my ultimate personal goal! I teach for the "light bulb" moments; the very instant when the child makes a connection to the subject being taught... it never gets old!
I have taught mostly 3rd - 6th grades. I was never a huge fan of math as a student. The more I teach it, the better I feel about the subject. Now, math is like an old friend that I see every day; I enjoy showing students the connections I've made.
I also really love reading and writing! I am hoping someday to publish a children's picture book, got several I'm working on.
I deeply believe that we all need to laugh at ourselves more, about 5 years ago, started to collect and add in the everyday school; the worst jokes, puns, and riddles, I can find. Just to lighten the mood and laugh! The fun begins when students share their funny jokes and riddles, helping me add to my collection!
I will only work by Zoom or Google Meet. I am still teaching in an actual classroom so telephone calls during the regular school day will not be answered. After 4 pm- 8 pm, Monday - Thursday, and Saturday, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
