About Hugh

Hello! My name is Hugh Tran and I am currently and UCSD student majoring in Mathematics. I am currently working as an instructor for a small company but I am looking to tutor more students to gain experience and help those whose learning have been affected by COVID. I can tutor mathematics from grades 5 to Calculus. Please let me know if you have any questions.

My teaching style stands out from others because I am a student myself. I take multiple approaches to teaching the same concept to make sure students understand the content thoroughly.

My qualifications:

I am a UCSD student majoring in Mathematics and Minoring in education.

I currently work as a mathematics instructor for a small company.

I have over 2 years or tutoring experience.

I love helping students overcome their fear of math. It makes me happy when students have that "aha!" moment where they finally understand the material they have been struggling on because I have been there myself. Especially during this COVID-19 pandemic I know that a lot of students have been struggling to learn, so I am hoping to provide them with the help they need to get back on track or even get ahead!

I started teaching in highschool. I would often stay afterschool every day to tutor other students on mathmatics. I also tutored during Saturday school to help students who were behind catch up. After highschool, I got a teaching job with a small company and have been teaching students since. I am now at UCSD studying Mathematics and minoring in education.

I am a highschool graduate and current student at UCSD. I am majoring in Mathematics and have taken up to multivariable calculus and discrete mathematics. I am also minoring in math education, I take classes on how to faciliate classrooms and teach students; this helps me with my tutoring lessions. I am also working as a math instructor for a small company; I work with students all the time!

About the lesson

When working with new students, I make sure to try and get to know them a bit before getting straight into the material. I believe it is important to know who my students are before diving into the math. I start off by assessing what mathematics level they are at and their weaknesses. After that, I try to take multiple approaches to helping the student understand the material.
