About Brennan
I have been interested in mathematics since before I could even form memories fully. In high school, I developed a passion for helping others and picked up on tutoring my peers and even with helping my teachers lecture. So, for many years now I have done that. I am taking time off of college and have free time to return to helping others. I think the fact that my age is so similar to those I would help makes me more relatable and makes it much easier for me to understand whoever is seeking help. I don't use a tough, demanding approach but rather an enjoyable and fun one, which thrives off of my sarcastic manner and kind hearted remarks. Overall, I make students want to continue to learn as it is much easier to learn and recall information when you want to rather than when you're dreading it.
To this point my qualifications and accomplishments are limited, as I am only 20 years old. However, as mentioned, I was a tutor throughout high school and even going into college for a bit. I was a two year member of teacher cadets in high school, along with a four year member of my school's quiz bowl, even winning a state championship.
I tutored in high school starting in 10th grade for the ACT math portion. I then extended that to other subjects and math in general.
I am a high school graduate, who took all 6 math courses offered to me in high school, which included college algebra and AP Calculus AB.
I have attended two years of college now while pursuing a mathematics degree.
As previously mentioned, I was a two year member of teacher cadets in high school, have tutored my peers for years, along with being a vital member of my school's quiz bowl team primarily for my mathematics skills and knowledge.

Well the most important thing is to first get to know a student a little, along with them get to know me from any questions they may have for me. It's much easier to teach when people are comfortable with one another and more acquainted rather than strangers.
I also would see which learning methods work best for them, which may be visual or auditory, etc. so I know if providing more visuals is beneficial for them. I would also learn if having them work real world problems is something that helps them retain the information better.
To this point I have only worked with students I personally knew, but, as I pursue my degree to become a teacher, feel it'd beneficial to branch out at this time. Some of the people I helped were a year older, many my age, some a year younger, and one even two years younger.
Students need to look for a teacher who not only has a strong passion for their subject area but also one who is very clearly a caring person. This ensures the best opportunity of the student being viewed equal rather than inferior and as a result they will be treated the best and have the most enjoyable environment possible from this.
My mother recently had an encounter with a guy I went to school with that I had shared to her many crazy stories about him and I. He was surprised she was my mother and, while he is who I consider the smartest person I went to school with, he spent the moment talking about how I was smarter and better at math than anyone else in our AP Calculus course. I felt happy to be praised so highly from someone I also have high praise for.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should always ask themselves if a teacher is someone that will respect them and understand that they might not know as much as what one would expect. They should also ask if they will be patient with them and respectful. Obviously it's also important a student is able to answer if the teacher knows the subject well enough to help them.

Since I am just starting this out, I don't quite have a standard system down for pricing. However, it would naturally be hourly and vary depending on if it's a straight up zoom call (or something similar) or if an in-person session is setup.
