About Hannah

I've taught in public school grades 4-6, elementary & sped, for 7 years. I have tutored on and off for a 12 year old girl with severe special needs and a junior high girl with SLD in math.

I love working with kids! I enjoy figuring out what the gaps are in learning, why maybe a student is stuck, and then helping discover how to help them become successful. Every student is capable; it's just a matter of figuring out how to get them there. I love seeing the lightbulb come on when a student gets it, and I love helping them realize they can do it.

I started teaching as soon as I graduated in December of 2014. I taught until this last school year(2020-2021) ended when my husband and I started to have a family.

I graduated from GCU with a dual major in Elementary Ed. & Special Ed. I worked in public education for 7 years, grades 4-6 general education and special education. I have tutored multiple students with special needs, 10-12 year old girl with severe special needs and a 12-14 year old girl with learning disability in math.

About the lesson

I start by talking about what the expectations, goals, and current skills are at. Then, I begin working with the student to see where his/her gaps are in learning and learning style is to better assist the student.

I have taught students ages 9-14 in both general education and special education. Before teaching, I worked in a before and after program where I had to oversee students K-8th grade.

I would say that the student should know what they need help with or what they want to improve on. Read up on what skills the teacher has and see if it sounds like a good fit for you!
