About John

As an engineering student I have taken a multitude of math course.i even took calculus 3 while taking calculus 4 online at time. This speaks to my organization skills and focus I currently have 2 degrees and I'm working on 2 more in 2 different engineering practices. I will be sure that my students Learn and are able to think critically about the information presented not just remember formulas. Let's work together!

I enjoy the moment of clarification for my students. To many times we get so flustered with a topic we miss small details that make all the difference. Once that puzzle piece it put into place and everything come together it's like the light bulbs come on and people literally light up. And in many cases, they even learn to love the topic they had the most trouble with.

I started actually by request I was an AP Calculus class with my friends and although the teacher was clearly knowledgeable on the topic, he had trouble conveying wat he was trying to say to many of the other students. The problem was he assumed they everyone could learn the same information the same way. Needless to say I had fellow students come to me for help and we ended up all coming out with A's

I currently have 2 degrees, and I'm working of 2 more in to distinct forms of engineering. I have taken and passed with one the highest averages in everything math class all the way up to calculus 4. Also I have 3 daughters, which gives me experience in reaches and teaching little minds that constantly wonder.

About the lesson

My process is to first learn the things my students enjoy doing in their spare time. Although to many this many seem pointless, it is absolutely critical to getting the student engaged. True learning happens when one can relate and think critically about the information in real life situations. The trick is finding the entry point. The more I can relate it to a favorite tv show, or game, or sport, the less it feels like learning and more like a conversation.

I have worked with students ranging from elementary to those chasing a masters degree.

I would suggest getting a teacher who is not just going to help u memorize formulas, but understand the information presented. Anyone can remember 1+1=2. However if u do not understand why 1+1 is 2 then u can't tell me what 1+2 is.

Recently I had a college student who had become so troubled by a topic that he was in the middle of his third time taking the class. Midway through the semester he had a D and came to me for help. We talked I figured out a way the relate the information to his favorite football team and he ended up coming out the class with a B+

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students need teachers who can reach them on a personal level and work with them to achieve greater understanding.know the teacher background and have a conversation with them to see if they are personable. If they are not they most like won't be very good teachers.
