About Geneva

Hello all, I am Your Math Hero! Let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in little ole Interlachen, Florida, but I knew I didnt want to stay there. I graduated high school with my Associate's Degree from Saint Johns River State College and my high school diploma. I have always favored math and have only made one B in a math course (statistics). It all makes sense to me. I went on to take courses for my teaching cerfitcation and am very familiar with not only completing Common Core, but teaching it as well. However, I have a pain disease that does not allow me to teach full time. I then changed my major to veterinary microbiology. Although, I still have a passion for making every child succeed. I hope you would consider me in guiding your child along yhe path to success.

I have always had a passion for opening up the minds of children. I love to provide children with unique ways of learning that their teacher may not use. I want to give children the academic opportunity that I have had so that they may become great leaders in the times to come.

I have two semesters of elementary education from Flagler college under my belt along with many intern hours at actual schools.

About the lesson

I like to start at the smallest step related to the section in which the child is having trouble. Then I scaffold the material when the child shows proficiency at each step.

I have worked with average students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade. My specialty is children with ADD because I know what makes them focus and understand them better than the average bear.

Some teachers aren't going to understand you, and that's okay. It isn't your fault. Just like counselors, you have to find the one that listens to you and helps you improve not only your academics, but yourself too.

Just last night I was tutoring a fostered family member of mine. He has ADD and is not on the proper medication. He also has not had the best upbringing when it comes to school. He has to learn exponents, but has trouble with simple multiplication. However, after many hours, I finally got him to the step just below exponents. I could not believe it and was extremely excited.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask themselves what subjects they feel strongest in and which subject they must admit they fall. They should also consider the ways of learning they feel the most comfortable.
