About Michael

I've been tutoring students for 15 years and focus predominantly on difficult, technical topics that attract gifted students and are often a challenge to find other tutors for. I have a PhD in mathematical physics, and have published with in theoretical physics, mathematics, and theoretical computer science. Many of my former students have gone on to academic careers and have been admitted to some of the best graduate schools, including MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and other similarly recognized institutions.

I am also capable of advising students on how to pursue higher education. Unlike many "college counselors," I can offer an insider's perspective on how to pursue higher education with particular career and life goals in mind.

I enjoy seeing my students achieve their potential and particularly appreciate working with gifted students on specialized, technical topics.

I started teaching as an undergraduate teaching assistant and have continued to teach as part of my overall career trajectory.

I have a PhD in mathematical physics, have been a postdoctoral scholar at one of the most internationally prestigious institutions, and am an active researcher in physics, mathematics, and theoretical computer science. I have given numerous talks to international audiences and have taught related courses at the college level.

About the lesson

Because of the topics that I focus on, after assessing the student's needs, I will develop a customized instruction plan.

I mostly with with gifted students looking for more advanced instruction on topics that I have expertise in. I'll work with students who are either struggling on these topics l, want to get ahead, or want to learn beyond the scope of their current courses.

In order to instruct a topic, a teacher must remember what it was like before they understood that topic. Make sure that you are hiring an instructor who can explain the intuition behind the technical details and can help you achieve the same "A-ha!" moment they themselves had.
