About Erin
I bring a passion for teaching and an outstanding academic background to my work with students. I am an experienced tutor in multiple subject areas who meets students where they are in order to facilitate deep, long-lasting understanding of subject material. I am genuinely excited about the material I teach and love to share the joy of learning with each of my students!
I graduated magna cum laude from Williams College in 2019 with a B.A. in Music, although my studies were exceedingly interdisciplinary. During the 2019-20 school year, I worked for AmeriCorps tutoring high school math and test prep in Newark, NJ. I am also an experienced editor and have worked with students to develop and polish everything from high school English papers to medical school applications. Currently, I am a freelance tutor and musician in NYC.
I have an outstanding academic background and considerable teaching and tutoring experience. I graduated magna cum laude from Williams College, earning Highest Honors on my senior thesis; I also have a near-perfect standardized test record (36 ACT, 1580 SAT). I have worked with students in many capacities, including five years of private voice lessons, two years of student teaching, and one year tutoring full-time with AmeriCorps in a Newark, NJ high school. In the last capacity, I also gained significant experience working remotely with students during the COVID-19 school closure.

My first goal with any new student is to assess their strengths and weaknesses, so that I am able to accurately tailor my teaching to their needs. I do this both through direct conversation, and by observing the student's process as they complete a sample piece of work (math problems, a writing sample, etc.). I am then able to use a student's strong areas to help support and connect to learning that is more challenging for them.
I have worked with students across a wide range of ages and educational backgrounds. Though I have worked most with high-school students in classroom settings, my private tutoring students range from early elementary schoolers to college students. Likewise, I have worked both with extremely advanced students and those who entered the school year significantly behind grade level. In all cases, students benefit from my patience, flexibility, and willingness to teach at their individual level and pace.

Details
My lesson pricing system is flexible based on each individual family's needs. In general, I charge $25-35/hour for virtual (Zoom) meetings, and $40-50/hour for in-person tutoring.
All in-person meetings are conducted in accordance with CDC and state COVID-19 recommendations.
