About Michael

Welcome all! My name is Michael Mendoza. I am a graduate of Palmer Ridge High School and now an enrolled student at Stanford University!

I am super passionate about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) but there are few things that I don't love to delve deep into.

I am very familiar with the curriculum taught in high school. I have taken classes from introductory courses to AP classes and everything in between. I have been in your students shoes before and I know how many feel about learning. I know that everyone has a different style of learning and I am happy to go over material from different perspectives that are more suitable to your student's style of learning.

I am very patient and easy to talk to. Don't hesitate to reach of if you need some help! I am always willing to help a student in need!

About the lesson

After I have meet and talked with the student about the material he or she is struggling with, I sit down and make an agenda for the session. I then try to understand certain strengths and weakness to get a better understanding of a where the problem is stemming from. My approach to tutoring is often different in different situations. For example, if a student's fundamentals need working with, then I will spend time helping build that foundation so that additional ideas can be learned. Often times a student cannot learn a new concept if they do no understand the foundation of that idea.

I then spend the session working on certain material, either their work from school or addional supplements, and test concepts periodically. At the end of the session I ask them to recall concepts to make sure they understand the material rather than asking them if they understand it. Recalling information often shows gaps in knowledge that a student didn't know they had.

I typically work with high school students but I have worked with middle school students in the past.

I typically charge 20$ an hour for tutoring services but am flexible with my pricing and willing to discuss any rate. No student should struggle due to financial hardship.
