About Hannah
Hi! My name is Hannah Tappan and I am a 3rd grade teacher. I went to Virginia Commonwealth University where I recieved a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Teaching in Early and Elementary Education. I am certified in the state of Virginia to teach Pre-K through 6th grade. I have been teaching 3rd grade for two years now at a school in Mclean, Virginia. Before that I had experience in different elementary schools across the city of Richmond.
I am well versed in online applications and want to help students succeed. I tutor through my own school for students in the areas of writing, reading, and math. I am also a coach for my schools chapter of Girls on the Run, a program that empowers girls to build confidence and be leaders.

I worked with students with special needs throughout highschool, when I went to VCU for college I had a plan to get a Master's in Special Education. After spending my first couple years of undergrad in Elementary classrooms, I found my love for teaching and went on to pursue my Masters.
I went to Virginia Commonwealth University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Both degrees are in the area of elementary education. In 2018, I graduated with my Masters of Teaching. I currently hold a teaching license in the state of Virginia that certifies me to teach pre-k through 6th grade. I have worked with students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels.

I want to first get to know the student to find out about their strengths and the areas they could grow. I would get to know their interests in order to build relationships and help make content more interesting. After getting this information I would have a better understanding of work that could be done!
I have worked with students of all ages, backgrounds, and levels. I have worked with students with special needs, english language learners, and students above grade level. I use lessons to both strengthen students needs as well as enrich when needed!
