About David
I am looking to tutor a few select students who would like to improve their grades and understanding of math.
I finished at the top of every math class, including Honors Algebra I and Algebra II, during my high school years, and 'tested out' of College Algebra with a perfect score in college.
I love bringing smiles to the faces of those who previously hated math :-)
Those I have tutored have always improved their grades. This is because I believe in getting the basics down very strong, allowing for a very stable foundation to build on.
I look forward to helping in any way I can at your pace. I am open to remote online session, or in person sessions, whichever fits your learning style best.
I got started tutoring, and specifically in math, when a friend saw my grades skyrocket in high school. He asked me if I could come out to his house a couple of times a week to help him with his math homework.
He told me that his parents were going to hire a math tutor, and that they were willing to pay me, if I was willing to help him.
This was my first real experience tutoring any student, and I was thrilled when he went from a failing grade to a high B, in just one report card period :-)
After struggling with math early my freshman year in high school, I then went on to finish with top grades in all of my math classes during my high school years, including graduating with Honors.
I tested out of Algebra in college my freshman year by simply taking the final exam with a perfect score, and I then went on to graduate UTTyler with a BSN degree.

Math Tutoring Process:
First, I do a free quality needs analysis where I speak with the student and/or parents to determine exactly when the needs are and what our goals are going to be for the sessions.
Second, if we feel there is a good fit for us to work together, we'll set up a tutoring schedule that works for everyone.
Lastly, we'll set checkpoint dates to evaluate where we are in the learning process, to address any areas of weakness in math, and to reassess if there is a need for continued tutoring going forward.
When it comes to math tutoring, I have worked with all ages from elementary school age all the way up through college students, and even a few adults.
Find someone you are compatible with, who understands what you're going through - someone who is willing to get on the same page with you to meet your goals. You need to be on the same page with your math tutor to maximize your learning results.
I was recently married in March of 2019 to the love of my life - this has nothing at all to do with tutoring students in math, but it is a recent event I'm fond of! :-)
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It's good to have a clear understanding of what your goals are, and make your expecations clear to your potential instructor - For example:
(1) I really want to understand math better.
(2) I want to go from making decent grades to getting excellent grades.
(3) I just want to pass (we may address setting your expectations a tad higher if you tell me this is your only goal).
(4) I just need help with a specific type of math problem.
(5) I really need to get the basics down better.
If you don't know what to say to a tutor, that's ok too. Just open up and talk about where you are and what's going on. Most tutors will pick up on where your greatest needs are and will be happy to help in any way we can :-)
Remember, these are your math tutoring sessions, so make it clear what it is that you're looking to accomplish.
Good Luck and Happy Learning!

I do offer discounts and free 'reach outs' to students who are serious about their math tutoring sessions:
For students willing to commit to 3 hours or more weekly, my rate drops to $19/hr. For these future math scholars, I also provide 5 free weekly 'reach outs' where my students can text or email me with any math-related questions that pop up during the week. This can be a HUGE help for students looking to get top grades in math!
For less than 3 hours of weekly tutoring in math, my standard rate is $25/hr.
