About Michael

Hi, I'm Mike Davidson. With over 25 years of math tutoring experience, I have helped countless students achieve their academic as well as personal goals. My primary focus is on increasing CONFIDENCE in math alongside building essential skills.

I've been tutoring K-12, college, and working adults in math for over 25 years. I also have a great deal of experience providing standardized test preparation for the ACT, SAT, GED, GMAT, GRE, ASVAB, and CBEST

In addition to tutoring neurotypical students, I have a strong track record of successfully supporting neurodivergent and gifted students. Having been a gifted student myself, I have a first-hand understanding of how high-ability learners process information. My experience includes supporting those with ADHD, mild autism, dyscalculia, and Down syndrome, as well as high-ability learners. While I don't have formal training in these specific areas, my patient, adaptable, and personalized approach has proven highly effective for diverse learning needs.

I hold a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

I'm a certified educator with CBEST ID #(concealed information) (Permanent Passing Status Verification).

When I'm not teaching math, I enjoy international travel to exotic, far away places, photography, yoga, contemporary jazz, and rock.

I was very good in math, so when I was in 6th grade, my mom asked me if I was willing to tutor her friend's daughter who was struggling in 2nd grade math. I discovered that it gave me a great deal of satisfaction to help her improve in math.

About the lesson

I work with students in kindergarten, grades 1-12, college students, and working adults including those in the military.

In addition to working with a wide range of so-called "normal" students, I have extensive experience working with students that have mild autism (Asperger's), ADHD, and other learning disabilities. I also work with gifted students.

I provide standardized test preparation services for the following standardized tests: ACT, SAT, GED, GMAT, GRE, ASVAB, CBEST, and a variety math placement tests.

Perfect! As a mathematician, I know and appreciate a personalized approach to learning mathematics. We hired Mike to help us augment our efforts as well as go beyond what our son is learning in school (1st grade). Our goal is to help our son learn and love mathematics and explore its wonders beyond the unfortunate school curriculums.

Mike's experience in tutoring and knowledge of mathematics has been compelling. He is also very patient and has lots of tricks up his sleeve in order to ensure a personalized learning experience.

I recommend him to anyone who not only wants their kid to improve on what they are required to learn at school (which is a lot of the boring stuff) as well as get introduced to things that can really get them to engage the subject.

Perfect! Michael helped my daughter review for a math 7 accelerated placement final. She did not pass the first time but was able to retake it and with Michael's help she passed it the second time. Michael was very patient and explained things in simple terms that my daughter could understand. We will definitely be using him again if she needs any further help in math!

Details

I like to keep things simple, so it's just pay-as-you-go by cash, check, PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. I don't make anyone purchase a package of tutoring sessions.

I charge by the hour for a minimum of 1 hour per session. Typically, a session lasts for 1 hour. The per hour charge varies based on subject and how far I have to travel.
