About Alyson

I absolutely love helping children learn! So much so, that I have been doing it for nearly 10 years! After getting my associate degree in Early Childhood Development, I taught preschool for several years in a daycare setting. My next adventure took me into being a paraprofessional at a local Elementary School, where I have been for the last 5 years. I'm also currently working towards my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Special Education so I can become a licensed teacher! My main focus is helping the kiddos that are having a hard time connecting the dots from what they have learned, and filling in the gaps so they can be successful!

I have always had a passion for working with children! I knew from a very young age that this was my calling.

I currently hold an associate degree in Early Childhood Development. I am also in the process of obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Special Education. I have been working as a paraprofessional for the past 5 years at a local elementary school. This job title means that I am responsible for making sure that the children with IEPs in the general education classes are comprehending what is being taught to them, and working one on one with them if they need more assistance in understanding the lessons.

About the lesson

It is very important when working with a new student that a certain level of trust and comfort is built. Having a meeting were the student and I can talk and get to know each other before tutoring starts is necessary in order for us to break the ice, and determine what the student needs from me in order for our time together to be successful.

I have worked with a wide variety of students with different special needs backgrounds, as well as general education children without exceptionalities.

Any time I get the moment of clarification on a child's face after I explain something, and it clicks is an event I am fond of. It's what all teachers strive to achieve.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should ask, "What goal am I looking to achieve?" "How do I plan on getting there?" And, "How can this teacher help me along the way?"
