About Josephat
A teacher’s enthusiasm can be contagious. Students can feel the teacher’s excitement and love for the subject. Enthusiasm in a teacher allows for innovative and creative ways for teaching and in turn encourages curiosity in students and motivation. Students are engaged, committed and contribute more when a teacher is enthusiastic. Enthusiasm brings forth different facial expressions, body language and tone of voice, and makes a boring or complex topic interesting. An enthusiastic teacher will often take a class away from the concrete walls of the school into the natural environment to break the monotony of a lesson and let students experience first-hand what they are learning. An enthusiastic teacher will engage with technology to find new ways to teach a lesson and make it exciting, encouraging digital and creative literacy in the classroom. The enthusiastic teacher will also make time to engage a student’s parents and help them along the learning journey of their child.
Some kids come to school loving to learn. Others aren’t so sure. I hope to inspire kids to love learning, and perhaps more importantly to believe that they can learn and do things. By giving kids opportunities and support and new experiences, I get to inspire them.
So many children need love, reassurance and attention, and I strive to be that person that builds them up when no one else ever has. I want to not only tell, but show my students that with commitment and hard work, they are capable of anything and can be anything that they want to be. I hope to create a safe place for the children in my classroom, where teamwork and empathy are rewarded just as enthusiastically as a good test score. Through love and understanding, I believe that I can help students achieve their highest potential.
I majored in Chemistry and Mathematics, so several of my courses directly prepared me for the role of teaching. Each course in my major required extensive research and how to handle students. This course gave me the real-world experience I needed to know how to prepare the young generation for a beter future.

Our first lesson is centered around finding out what the student already knows, and where the holes are in their knowledge so I can determine what to focus on. We also speak about the student’s goals, and then figure out the best way to proceed.
Actually, and really: all. I enjoy working with all age groups and different learning styles; I like to work with challenging students.
Patience
Regardless of the grade level the individual is teaching, patience is essential in the classroom. Inevitably, the educator will run into students who struggle, misbehave, or require extra attention for other reasons. They must remain calm and continue to work with these children so that they find success in school.
Communication skills both inside and outside of the classroom
Of course teachers must be able to communicate with their students properly, but truly successful educators are also able to work well with administrators, other teachers, and all staff members working in that school. Additionally, they’re able to communicate with their students’ parents or guardians to explain how the child is doing in class.
Enthusiasm for the job
Teaching is challenging, to say the least. The best teachers have a genuine enthusiasm for the field. They truly believe in what they do and why they do it. Those who teach because they aren’t sure what else they’d rather be doing will quickly find that they end up burnt out and counting down the days until summer rolls around.
The ability to be flexibility
Education changes quickly. You may teach students a particular subject a certain way one year, only to find that your administrators would like you to teach it another way the following year. The best teachers are able to be flexible and adapt to these changes, without getting flustered or frustrated. They also incorporate changing technology trends into their classroom, and stay on top of developments in the educational field.
The ability to take feedback
Inevitably, you’ll want your younger teachers to get regular feedback from the veterans on staff. However, if the newer teacher regularly gets offended by this feedback, eventually this is going to cause tension among your team. The ideal new hire will be able to take some criticism and learn from it, rather than feeling offended.
Life is a marvelous treasure of surprises and I believe it’s all in the way one looks upon it that makes all the difference. Today I am going to talk about the day, which probably won’t be a gaiety moment for all, but for me, it was. It dates back to 2016, when I got a chance to visit a zoo with my friends. Honestly speaking, I was the least interested amongst all of us in making a visit to a zoo as I thought we could have gone to a different place for our excursion. However, I didn’t know that I’d be getting a friend in a macaque whom I was about to meet that day.
I was maundering across the zoo, seeing every animal there, when a beautiful macaque with thick, coarse hair caught my attention. It was not his looks that made me fall for him, but his antics were something that got me swooning over that beautiful and frenetic creature. It was not long after that when he came to me and held his cage as if he was asking me to help him in breaking the bars to set him free. All of my friends kept moving ahead to see other animals there. However, I was captivated by that instant bond between the macaque and me. It got me thinking now and then: how if the tables turned around? What if we were in the animals’ place and they, in ours? To this day, I have not been able to revisit a zoo.
It was not only a memorable day for me but a moment of self-realization.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. Which parts of this are new to me, and which parts do I recognize?
2. How does this connect with what I already know? How and where does it ’fit’?
3. What stands out to me?
4. Is this subjective or objective?
5. If subjective, is it my judgment necessary for understanding?
6. What does this remind me of?
7. Is this idea important to me? To others? Why or why not?
8. What could I do or make with this?
9. How might others use information like this in the ‘real world’?
10. What real-world models–examples–relate to this that can help me understand this further?
11. What follow-up questions does this suggest I ask?
12. What person, group, or community does this suggest that I connect with?
13. Is there a ‘part’ of this new idea I can take and ‘pivot’? Create something new and fresh?
