About Hasan

I am dedicated to providing students with education specifically tailored to them. In my two years of experience tutoring science and math, the biggest hurdle students have with content isn't the content itself, but the way it's being taught. I will do my best to provide each student with teaching methods that best suit them in order to help them leap over that hurdle and create a learning environment that they feel is effective for them.

My biggest joy when tutoring is finally seeing students succeed in a topic, or seeing a topic click for them. I used to tutor for a competitive extracurricular science club, and seeing my students win medals at the regional and state levels after months of hard work and dedication is geuinely amazing. Similarly, when I see students finally understand a concept after struggling with it for so long, it makes me happy that I was able to assist with reaching that moment.

I started teaching by helping run part of an extracurricular club I used to take part in at my old school, and I quickly grew to enjoy and succeed in that role. Even during my first year there, I managed to guide my students to multiple regional and state awards.

I have two years of experience working for a middle and high school as an instructor for a highly competitive science competition. On top of that, I personally tutor friends quite often. That large range of environments that I have worked in allows me to more easily and effectively tailor my tutoring to a wide range of students and topics.

When tutoring any student, I always start with determining what teaching methods they feel work best for them, and what teaching methods they feel don't work at all. Once we determine that, I'll work through any teaching methods they've given me or I feel would be best, as well as various ways of explaining the content in question, in order to eventually help them understand the content.

I have worked with students from many backgrounds and cultures, with grades ranging from sixth to college, although most of my experience is focused on late middle school and early high school.

The biggest thing to look for is a teacher who's compatible, just like anyone else who will be working with someone on a personal level. It's why I do my best to work through different teaching methods and explanations, but sometimes I might not be the right tutor regardless! Of course, it can be frustrating to jump between tutors looking for one who can explain something in the way you need, so definitely make sure to see if they have anything written about their teaching methods before hiring them.

While COVID-19 has caused an unbelievable amount of stress and trouble for everyone, some of my fondest memories recently are of cooking at home and getting to prepare dinner for my family. The ability to bring that small amount of joy to the people close to me is what I want to inspire in both my personal life and my tutoring.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The most important thing to ask is how the teacher would be willing to adjust to your needs. No two students are the same, however similar, and finding a teacher who can adapt to your experiences and learning needs is essential. Beyond that, some students need more direction, while some just need a nudge in a friendly environment; finding that out about yourself and asking teachers about it is also good practice.
